#3rd edition of UNSENSORED talks!
Have you ever wondered what lies underneath the soft silicon layers of sex-products? Well, now it’s the time to stop wondering, and get your own hands on it! This edition of UNSENSORED talks will shine the light on many efficient and creative ways to build your very own “sex tech” at home. To celebrate DIY practice and sparkle enthusiasm in our audience we are inviting thought-provoking hackers and makers to share with us their practice and push the boundaries of what sex-products can be.
“Rethinking Pleasure in the Body & DIY Sex Toys”
Julia (@jem.spen) – a Designer and Maker based in London. While living in Brazil, she collaborated with Brazilian designer Esther Angelo (@flusserfan) and developed a workshop based on Esther’s research on alternative sex toys. In July 2019, during a residency at Makerversity, Somerset House, Julia ran an iteration of this workshop on alternative points of pleasure in the body.
This short talk will present the workshops undertaken by designers Julia Spence and Esther Angelo. The project explores the conversation of alternative points of pleasure in the body and how can we design for them using different materials. Designer Julia Spence will discuss how this project developed, share with you details of the workshops undertaken in London and Brazil and dissect the importance of rethinking where pleasure in the body can come from.
